Growing up, I always had a fascination with Disney princesses and "Toy Story," which I'm not sure why "Toy Story" in particular has always been one of my favorites, but I think it's my sister's fault.
Either way, it's still at the top of my favorites list to this day.
My parents both loved Disney before I came along, too - so much that they went there on their honeymoon (life goals to be honest) and had Disney-themed decor at their wedding. Yes, they even had a Mickey and Minnie cake topper - so cute! I was always infatuated by Sleeping Beauty and Buzz Lightyear and all the Disney characters you could imagine. I watched "Playhouse Disney" and "Bear and The Big Blue House" like nobody's business, and my room was Disney princess themed. My family went on two Disney trips before we moved to Florida, the home of Walt Disney World.
A few years after we moved, we got annual passes to Disney and went all the time because who doesn't love Disney?
But then... we got rid of them until my 14th birthday. My Instagram feed slowly became pictures of me at Disney and all the food I was eating because I love Disney food, especially at Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival. My friends slowly got to know that I was always at Disney World and stopped making plans with me, but that's OK because I was always at the happiest place on Earth. I would always go and find something new to love and obsess over, whether it was a photo spot or a character. I was always there, and I was always happy. I ran a Star Wars 5K my junior year of high school, I used Mickey ears in my graduation photos, I celebrated five birthdays in a row there (ten total), and at the start of my senior year, I even announced that I was going to my dream college.
Whether it was a birthday or just a Saturday after swim practice, I always found myself at Disney.
Despite the fact that all of my friends got annoyed with the Disney pictures on my Instagram and Snapchat, I still love Disney with all of my heart. Every movie and show and trip created a new memory, or as Disney calls it, a magical moment. The countless lessons that I learned from the movies and quotes that I say every day like "hey howdy hey" or "put that thing back where it came from or so help me," are carried with me every day. They make me who I am. Walt Disney always believed in the mentality of "If you can dream it you can do it," which is something I live by to this day. Dreams are something I'm always chasing and making into a reality.
I will never stop being a Disney lover, even if I'm a childless millennial that looks weird being in a place made for families and children because it's my happy place, forever and always.
