I Try To Live My Life As Straightforward As Possible

Lately I've been doing a lot of thinking. The kind of thinking that scares people so before you continue on, don't say I didn't warn you.

I've been thinking about how fragile life is. I've been thinking about how we act like we have forever without even knowing if we have a tomorrow. I've been thinking about the sad, morbid truth that good people die. I've been thinking about how life is filled with tragedy and heart break. How you can do everything right and still be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Without explanation it could all be taken from you in the blink of an eye.

Now the purpose of this article isn't to make you depressed. Its purpose is to wake you up because once you realize that you're not as in control as you think you are, life slows down. Life becomes simple. You begin to live as straightforward as possible.

So what does living straightforward mean? It means treating every second as if it's your last. It means telling the person you love that you love them even if you fear that its the wrong time or the feelings aren't reciprocated. It means telling your friends that they are wonderful human beings and you cannot believe that you exist at the time and place as them. It means studying what you love regardless of what people think because this is what you love, this is what you were born to do. It means doing things that scare you because it is in those times that you feel most alive. It means wearing your heart on your sleeve and being so vulnerable that you can't breath. It means paying for the persons drink behind you in the drive- thru because you know it will make their day. It means going out of your way to show the people that are important to you just how important they are. It means doing what you want to do with the time you have.

So do what you love, be with who you love, and don't give a shit what anyone else says because this is your life not theres. Don't waste your time and energy on things that you aren't wholeheartedly in love with.

You never know when the last day will be your last so make the most of it. Leave it all on the table, I promise you won't regret it.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
