The greatest gift that was ever given to humankind, in my opinion, is fruit snacks. Since my freshman year, fruit snacks have gotten me through a lot of rough patches, a lot of times when the dining hall was closed, and I had nowhere to turn. With the option of either sleep or fruit snacks for dinner, I chose fruit snacks every time.
Fruit snacks are extremely inexpensive to the average college student. And they are readily available in convenience stores and chain grocery stores. They come in wide varieties, and flavors, mine being the mixed fruit pack from Welch's. They do not hold a lot of calories or sugar, which make them great for any time of the day. They have essentially cured my depression (not really, I'm still super sad!).
The top brands of fruit snacks I recommend are the Scooby Fruit Flavored Snacks, Mott's, Welch's, and Gushers. Okay, so the last one isn't actually considered fruit snacks, but I reaalllllyyy love them.
The first time my lips met a fruit snack was when my dad brought home a giant box of Scooby-Doo fruit snacks when I was maybe ten. He shared them among my three brothers and I and proceeded to hide the rest. But after that first bite. I was hooked. Especially to the neon blue fruit snack--you know, the one that is everyone's favorite in the Scooby Doo pack. Eventually, I found the hidden delicacy and took some (or ten) for myself. My dad ended up finding out and let's just say, I never went snooping again.
Sure, you can eat chips, or find a ham-and-cheese Hot Pocket in the back of your micro-fridge. But they hold so many calories and won't do a jig in your tummy. Fruit snacks will. Fruit snacks will always be there for you. When you go through a bad breakup or take an L on your Bio exam, they will be waiting for you. To comfort you. And to hold you. (This may have taken a wrong turn, but I think you know where I'm getting at.)
If you're ever thinking of buying a snack, think of fruit snacks as your go-to.
