With the tragic incident of Brett Kavanaugh's swearing-in, one thing has been, made clear. For those of you who claim he did nothing wrong, I want you to look a female loved one in the face and tell her that you wouldn't believe her if she came to you and told you that she was sexually assaulted. Oh, you can't do it? Well, you had no problem believing a sexual assaulter, so what's the difference?

For those of you who didn't believe her. Ford solely because Kavanaugh is a Republican, that is just plain wrong. The Republican Party is the supposed party of "family values" but they are more concerned with transgender and gay people than the well-being of children.

For those who don't believe what they can't see, I have some statistics for you.

Every year, 321,500 people are raped. That's one every 98 seconds. That means by the time you're done reading this, at least 2 people have been raped.

9 out of 10 rape victims are female.

32,000 women get pregnant by their rapist every year. And in 31 states, those rapists can actually sue for custody. No states allow women to sue for child support from their rapist.

If those facts don't worry you, which they should, then you should know that the reason victims don't speak out against their accuser is probably because a) they're afraid no one will believe them, b) they don't have a support system or c) they can't even talk yet.

Sexual assault is one of the worst problems in our society, yet it has one of the least repercussions. Less than 6% off all rapists ever spend a day behind bars, if they are even found guilty. We talk of not wanting to ruin a man or boy's future by accusations, but yet we have no problem completely dismissing the women or girls that were attacked. We wonder why no one speaks up, yet with the Kavanaugh hearing, we told victims of sexual assault that we wouldn't believe them if they were attacked in the first place.

Instead of worrying about whether or not the accusation is false simply because the perpetrator was a man, worry about the fact that the female's life will forever be changed because we don't teach our sons how to respect women. There is a war on women, and it's time to start teaching boys about consent as early as you can.

If a dog can listen when its owner says no, then a male should be able to listen when a woman says no.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
