If you are a student at Radford University or another local college, then you may already know that students get almost an entire month off for break. So what exactly are we supposed to do during this month?
Majority of students head home and choose to relax before the new semester (plus the dorms kick students out). This is the time to kick back and visit the relatives and friends we haven't spoken to while we were away at school.
However, as mentioned before, we have almost an entire month off so you will most likely have some free time. Here are some ideas of some activities you can do over break while you have free time.
1. Get a job
Find a seasonal job maybe in a local mall or store and work. Earn the money back you spent on dumb stuff while away at college.
2. Read a book
Widen your vocabulary and visit the library or local bookstore. Personally, I consider comic books to be acceptable choices if you're not a novel person.
3. Take a winter class
Take a Wintermester class. Although they can be rushed because they are cramming an entire semester's worth of a class into a few weeks, they can help you catch up or get ahead.
4. Color or create art
I can't draw to save my life but I can get colored pencils and color within the lines of a book.
5. Volunteer
Work in a local shelter or help to collect funds for charity groups.
6. Build a website or a portfolio
Graduation is closer than you think (I hope). Meaning you'll have to make a resume or portfolio eventually.
7. Clean
Your parents will probably appreciate it the most but clean your room! Dust and scrub the entire house!
8. Exercise
Go to the gym before everyone goes as part of their new year resolution!
Here are some ideas to be productive over break. I know Netflix is very tempting but try something new and make the most out of your time off!
