Everyone hates applying and reapplying sunscreen. L'Oréal recently debuted their first attempt at wearable technology, the My UV Patch. The small blue patch stretches over the user's skin to help track their sun and UV exposure with an app on your phone. It can help you to keep track of when you need to put on another layer of sunscreen, or even just get out of the sun altogether.
My UV Patch is made by La Roche Posay, a subsidiary of L'Oréal. The patch can be put anywhere on exposed skin, and what really makes it unique is that you can apply your sunscreen right over it, so it can accurately track UV exposure. The sticker is covered in 16 boxes that change color when exposed to UV rays. When you are ready to look at how your sunscreen is holding up simply take a picture of the sticker and upload it to the app. The patch can be worn up to five days.
While this product is still in its beta phase, L'Oréal plans to provide it to customers for free upon its release in hopes that it will teach people to responsibly monitor their sun exposure. Until then make sure to stay safe in the sun and enjoy the last of summer!
