How to Train for the Most Important Marathon of Your Life: The Netflix Marathon

Some days we all just need a low-key day of lying in bed watching Netflix. For some people, this may be every day during the summer (totally not referring to myself). If you are overly invested in a certain show, consider devoting one day to watching an entire season. 

Like any other marathon, this day will obviously be one that you will remember and brag about for years to come. But you must work up to it – the ability to do this does not come without extensive practice, preparation and natural skill. 

So if you’ve been looking for a how-to guide for watching an entire season of a show in one day, look no further.   

Step 1: Before you begin, make sure you've slept in as late as possible. This is imperative, as you will be staying up half the night and will need your rest.

Step 2: Prepare yourself for the strenuous activities that this day will hold. Light stretches and several cans of Dr. Pepper (or your choice of caffeinated, sugary beverage) should suffice. 

Step 3: Gather the necessary equipment for your day. This includes chips and candy of various kinds, Oreos and the aforementioned Dr Pepper. Make sure to keep your phone and computer chargers near you, since later you will be too engrossed in your marathon (or too lazy) to retrieve them when you need them. 

Step 4: You are almost ready to begin. Assume the position. Crawl into your bed and under the sheets. Get comfy, because you will be there for a while. Ensure that everything you will need is within arm’s reach. 

Step 5: Pull up Netflix on your computer, press play and begin watching your show.

Step 6: Continue watching the show. You can do it. Remember to stay hydrated. 

Step 7: Don’t be afraid to take short breaks. If necessary, microwave a frozen pizza in between episodes. This also gives you an opportunity to stretch. 

Step 8: Don’t give up! Keep watching! Have the mindset of a winner – think to yourself, “I can do it! I am almost done!” You are a superstar. Nothing is impossible for you.

Step 9: When the credits roll after the final episode, send a victorious Snapchat to your friends. At this point it will most likely be late at night, so put down the laptop and turn off the light. A good night’s sleep is well deserved after the feat you accomplished today. Congratulations!
