How To Stay Productive On Your Day Off

Everyone knows the feeling of waking up on your day off and not wanting to get out of bed even though you have tons of work to do. Then after a day of sleeping and Netflix you hate yourself for not even moving the whole day and getting absolutely nothing done.

Here are some ways on how you can stay productive on your day off.

1. Set an alarm.

Now I'm not saying to wake up at 6 a.m., but you don't want to end up in bed until 3 p.m. either. Let yourself sleep in more than usual, but set an alarm to get your day going early. Also ... DO. NOT. SNOOZE. YOUR. ALARM. (Set multiple alarms if you know you have a tough time getting up.)

2. Make a to-do list.

To make sure you get everything done that needs to be done, write it down. Write everything done that you can possibly think of and keep that list with you at all times. Each time something gets done, cross it off. And keep doing that until that whole list is complete.

3. Get comfy.

Don't expect to get any work done while sitting in your bed. Try sitting at a table, desk or anywhere where you know you can concentrate better. Wear your fave sweats, maybe even some fuzzy socks.

4. Turn on some music.

It's been proven many times that music can actually help productivity. Try turning on some music (without words) when you're trying to read or write (like I am now!) to help you focus. You can use something like 8tracks or Apple Radio to help you find a playlist.

5. Get rid of your phone.

Either put your phone in another room, or turn it on do not disturb. If you're continuously checking for new messages or checking social media, you're never going to get any work done.

6. Block your social media ... temporarily.

Use free apps such as Cold Turkey to block yourself from going on your social media for a certain amount of time. Then you won't be able to check your tweets or check to see if BAE posted a new Instagram pic.

7. Do. Not. Procrastinate.

Just get up and start getting your work done. Use the five-minute rule: give yourself five minutes to work, but by the time five minutes is up, you will usually be in the swing of things. You can also set a timer for 25-30 minutes, and then give yourself a five-minute break. The hardest part is getting started.

8. One thing at a time.

Don't feel overwhelmed if you're feeling stuck on a certain task. Just relax and feel confident about yourself and know you can complete it. If you need a break try going for a walk or to the gym to clear your head!

These tips can help you (hopefully) get through your day in the most productive way possible. Get working!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
