As an aspiring writer, one of the first notions I learned towards becoming a better writer is to simply write. Your words begin to flow easier the more you practice. You'll come across a feeling you don't understand and search until you find a word that fits. You'll find yourself understanding perspectives when you're forced to write from a different view. It's an ironic first step.
The next phase everyone knows is to read. Read books, read articles, and read subtitles. Read anything that catches your interest and read stories that might make you question your bias routines. Reading a book to learn to write is like watching makeup tutorials. You learn tricks and flows that are new to you. You'll understand what makes a story worth reading and watch how certain emotions and words work together.
Share what you have written and created. Getting a second opinion or response makes you question your original drafts. People often ask questions we forget to answer. If you don't feel comfortable sharing online, then a friend or trusted loved one is a good choice as well. Allow your voice to be heard through a computer screen.
My final advice is to simply live life. Get to know people, learn about new cultures and lifestyles. Ask unusual questions, away from the norm and ask in an open-ended way. Have discussions instead of arguments and listen instead of waiting for your chance to respond. It's important that we watch the way situations are handled along with the daydreams we have about how we with how we wished something happened. Mix fantasy with reality to make a story feel like it's definitely a beautiful dream but maybe can happen in real life.
If you want to be a writer then write, read, share and live.
