7 Easy Ways To Relieve Stress

Summer is a nice time to relax and forget about the pressures of school. But with fall just around the corner, and with school starting back up, students may begin to start feeling stressed out again. Here are some easy stress relieving activities that you can do to help relax.

Make a "To-Do" List

When all of the assignments and responsibilities you have are all mixed up in your head, it can bring on a sense of overwhelm. If you write out a list of everything you have to do so you can physically see it, it can bring you peace of mind.

Bonus tip: Try organizing your list in order of importance and check off each item as you accomplish it.

Exercise

Going on a quick run or hitting the gym can be an instant stress reliever. Consider finding a gym buddy and make exercise part of your weekly routine!

Bonus tip: Consider doing yoga. Yoga forces you to practice mindfulness, which will help alleviate stress.

Clean Your Room

When you feel stressed, everything in your life can feel cluttered. Try taking a break and spending some time cleaning your room. It will take away some of the clutter in your life!

Bonus tip: Even if your room is pretty clean, try rearranging something.

Have Some "Me" Time

Giphy

Take a break and do something you love! It could be journaling, reading, drawing, or anything else you love.

Bonus tip: Try picking up a new hobby! This will also give you something to look forward to.

Consider Reducing Your Caffeine Intake

Don't get me wrong, I need coffee just as much as anyone else. But try sticking to two cups a day. Too much caffeine can make you anxious, which won't help your stress at all.

Bonus tip: After 5 pm, consider switching to tea. There's less caffeine in it.

Learn To Say No

Giphy

Obviously we can't say no to everything. But there are some things we can put off. If a friend asks you to go to a basketball game when you have two tests that week, it might be a good idea to tell them you'll have to make it to the next one. Friends will understand if you have other responsibilities.

Bonus tip: If you volunteered to do something for a club but something came up last minute, do not bail on your club. Try reaching out to other club members for some help.

Get Together With Some Friends

Giphy

Spending your entire weekend studying won't help relieve your stress. Make sure to take a night off and do something fun with your friends! After all, that's part of the reason you came to college.

Bonus tip: Try watching a comedy or playing Cards Against Humanity together. Laughing can also help reduce your stress.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
