We've all had our not so great days. Those days where you wake up late, stub your toe, your housemate is in the shower and so on it goes, things keep going wrong. Or sometimes you get unexpected bad news, out of the blue with no anticipation. Other times, you finally hit a wall and realize just how lost you've been feeling. Yet, despite all that may be going seemingly wrong, what if we stopped believing in bad days? Some of the best advice I was ever given was that there are no bad days...only bad moments. Even when you find yourself in what might be a bad moment, you still have the choice to rejoice daily! So next time you're caught in a bad moment, try any of these five ways to rejoice amidst the challenges and keep on smilin'...I promise you will probably find your day turn around.
1. Journal!
I always say that a pen and paper are truly the best therapy. Get yourself a Pilot V 5 ultra fine ink pen (the best kind of pen) and some good paper and throw your words on a page! My favorite thing to do is to write out all the things I'm thankful for and let it remind me just how blessed I am.
2. Coffee!
If you are feelin' down, there is nothing like a good old hot coffee in your favorite mug. Or even better, hop in the car and go find a new, nearby coffee shop. Sit by a window, read a book and enjoy your favorite coffee or drink!
3. Adventure!
Sometimes you just need to take a step back and remind yourself there is more to life than right now and there is more out there than right where you are. Go on a walk, find a field or take a drive with no destination and just see where you end up! There is freedom in spontaneity!4. Sing and dance!
I truly believe in the power of music. There is no doubt that singing and dancing to your favorite song can lift your spirits tremendously. I have a huge dent on the roof of my car because last Tuesday night I decided to jam out by myself and dance on my car just because I could! My neighbors even eventually joined in!
5. Do what makes you come alive!
There is nothing I love more than being outside among God's creation. When my heart is overwhelmed, there is nothing worse than feeling confined by walls; I always just want to be among the wildflowers, with the fullest sense of all that this joyous world has to offer. What makes you come alive? Go find it and pursue it and love it and grab ahold of it with your whole heart, and you're sure in for the greatest day of your life.
There are truly no bad days, only bad moments. And if you're bored, you're boring! Go make the most of the amazing blessing we call life! We aren't guaranteed tomorrow so what will we make of today? If not you, then who? Go and rejoice!
