Midterms are stressful, but there are ways to make the process a whole lot easier.

How To Prepare For Midterms

It feels like the semester just started, but unfortunately midterms are just around the corner. To help you prepare for these exams, I’ve compiled a list of study tips that will hopefully help you ace the tests with the least amount of stress possible!

Start Reading Now

If your teacher has been telling you since the beginning to read the chapters she is lecturing, now is a good time to start listening. There will most likely be questions on the exam directly from the textbook, and it is a good way to study too.

Organize Your Notes

When you’re trying to listen to your professor, who's talking a million miles an hour, and write at the same time, your handwriting can get pretty sloppy. Look through your notes, make sure that similar information is grouped together, and make sure that you can read everything, so that it will be easy to look over them when the test gets closer.

Make To-Do Lists

These lists are my best friend, and they should be yours as well. Making to-do lists will help you stay organized and on top of what you need to get done so that you aren’t stressing out at the last minute. It will also eliminate the chance of forgetting something important!

Ask Questions

Look through your material, and anything you don’t understand or have notes about, ask your classmates or professor. This will help make sure you don’t miss any important material that may end up on the test.

Make “To Clarify” Lists

When you’re reading through your notes or a chapter, write down any concepts or theories that you don’t understand very well. That way you can keep going through the chapter, and then at the end go back and look up everything you can about that particular topic.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
