Did you pick the wrong roommates this year and need to hit the reset button? Have you been struggling to find people that share your habitual routines and cleanliness? Are you just sick of your roommates Bull S***?? Do better for yourself next semester and follow these easy steps!

1. The sooner the better

Make it easier on yourself and try to determine where you’re living early. If you wait too long, odds are everyone already has decided where they are living and your choices can be limited by where they signed a lease. This step is key in order to end up with roommates you will want to keep around. If you wait too long you might settle for someone you don’t really know, get pissed at, and eventually, hate their guts.

2. Don’t always pick your best friends

If your anything like other college students, you party a lot. Like an unhealthy amount. We tend to make our best of friends while out drinking and having a good time. These people are NOT always your best choice. Just because you and Chuck both know the lyrics to Gucci Gang doesn’t mean you’re the perfect match as roommates. If you’re going to choose a friend, analyze how they live. Don’t be creepy about it, just compare their habits to your own. if you like being clean see if they are as well next time you go over.

3. Set rules and boundaries together

Once you’ve found your optimal roommates, it’s important to set rules and boundaries either before or as soon as you move in. If you want something a certain way, voice your opinion! It’s okay to be picky with new people. We all come from different backgrounds and prefer a certain standard. It’s better to communicate all of your pet peeves before they come to light. Don’t let someone’s selfishness intrude into your daily routine. And if they slack off, be transparent about how you feel.

4. If all else fails, allow some stranger danger

There is nothing wrong with having people you’ve never met before as roommates. It can actually be a blessing in disguise. Your best bet is finding at least one friend using the previous criteria, and letting them pick their friends. Or, let the internet be your guide with a roommate finder. This way you can still get the roommate characteristics you value and not someone who might kill you in your sleep!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
