Every person has a different definition of a long road trip — to some, it is a mere 3-hour drive while others have braved up to 20+ hour car rides.
I believe the longest I’ve been stuck in a moving vehicle is 13 hours and I wanted to kill my family by the end of it.
So, I recently traveled, and I thought of ways to make the road trip not feel as long.
1. Play a car game
The Alphabet game, Eye-Spy, or every Alabamians favorite — count the Alexander Shunnarah Billboards.
2. Debate topics with the other car riders
Topic Ideas (choose wisely):
- Political topics
- Religion
- Which Star Wars movie is the best and why
- In Friends, were Ross and Rachel on a break? If so, whose fault is it?
- Why have all the good characters died on Grey's Anatomy?
- On "Gossip Girl," we can all agree Serena should've ended up with Nate, right?
3. Take a nap
Any nap kills time.
4. "Sightseeing" aka look outside the window
You used to get told this if you were riding with your parents, but now it has turned into one of the best ways to just pass time.
5. Listen to Hamilton or any CD soundtrack that takes over an hour to listen to all the music
Hamilton is perfect for over a 2-hour car ride. Reputation by Taylor Swift is a good for over an hour car ride.
6. Binge Netflix shows (if you have unlimited data) or read a book
7. Sing along to old Disney songs
8. Pig out on some junk food
9. Find out the latest gossip
This works with people you've known all your life or new friends. A good time to ask personal questions or find out some drama/gossip :)
