How To Keep Your Dorm Organized

School is back in session! Well, almost! So you are about to move into your freshman dorm, or you are a returning college student who just really wants to make sure their dorm, or apartment doesn't get as messy as it did last year. Well I am here to help! I love organizing and making cue spaces to put all of my clothes and random stuff around my room. Now if you're a freshman and have a little dorm room I can guarantee you that there are more ways then you think for to organize the little space you will be living for the next year. You may have bought all the storage you think you need but, lets just be real for a second here, you will never have enough storage to keep all of your clothes.

After endless summer nights before my freshman year, I thought I created the greatest college packing list of everything that I needed. I didn't think I packed anything that I really wouldn't need. Wow was I wrong. I created a Pinterest board of everything I thought I would need, everything Pinterest told me I would need! But after I really looked at the board I realized I set myself up for this messy disaster. So I quickly created another board to help me keep my dorm or apartment completely clean and organized!

1. Closet Space

Closet space is especially crucial when you go from having a decent sized closet a home to having one the size of your mini-fridge that's sitting in the corner of your room. This is a hack that I found SO helpful! By just adding a soda tab to your hanger you can double the space you have in your closet while doubling the amount of clothes you can hang!

2. Drawer Space

Once again another hack that actually saved my life. I have a lot of clothes, a lot more than I like to admit actually. And for some reason I though I needed to bring them all with me because I swore I would wear all of them. Well I didn't and it just took up space that I didn't have. But, just by folding my clothes like this I found that my drawers held 10 times more than before! I had so much more space for all my t-shirts that were crammed in the drawer before!

3. Washi Tape

Washi tape will save your life, literally. I used washi tape for just about everything last year, labeling being one of them. I love to be organized and I love for everything to have a place. So this was another hack that I found extremely helpful. With extension cords running just about all over my room I was constantly unplugging the wrong thing and got confused when I went to turn said unplugged thing on and it didn't work. With all the cords also looking the same I soon realized I need to label those bad boys. Washi tape was too the rescue of course, not only did I use the washi tape for labeling put it's awesome for hanging up pictures as well.

4. Plastic Storage Bins

I don't think I can express how much these little plastic storage bins saved my life during the school year. You can store just about anything in these bins, I stored more clothes (of course), food and al my bathroom products in here. These bins are durable and come in all sorts of sizes so you can fit them just about anywhere.

5. Notebook Storage

Like I said before, I am an organization freak, I love having a place for everything. So when I found myself just throwing my books all over my desk after classes I couldn't have it. I went to the nearest target and got these file organizers in a cute wired gold. Once I got back to my room I put them on the top of my desk and you could finally see my desk! I also organized them with which classes I had on which day so that way I could just grab them in the morning and go!

As you move into your dorms or apartments I hope that this list helps you with some of your organization problems that you may come across! I know I sure wish that I had come across some of these hacks earlier in the year!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
