Hello Odyssey, today I will be teaching you how to go viral!
First you must put “not clickbait” in your title so readers are intrigued. I have seen this method on other platforms such as YouTube, and trust me it works. Type in “not clickbait” on YouTube and you will see 4,280,000 results of clickbait. The first video I see is titled “I SLEPT WITH A GHOST. (LEGIT NOT CLICKBAIT)”. This video has about 940,000 views, and can be considered a “viral” video. I will save you time here and tell you not to watch it, because it is an absolute waste of life. Now type “not clickbait” into Odyssey. You will find tons of articles on the topic. One that stands out to me is Libby Jourdan’s article “This is not clickbait”, which goes into depth on how social media platforms have been “encouraged to churn out content, regardless of quality”.
Next you must put an exciting flashy photo that goes with your title. This will give your audience false hope that they will be reading something knowledgeable and worthy of their time. For this article, I will use a photo of the phrase “6,000,000 views” or a picture of a video or an idea blowing up to use as “eye candy” for viewers. The key to journalism is grabbing your readers attention with a great title and lede. A lede is an opening sentence or paragraph that summarizes the most important aspect of a news story. My lede was “I will be teaching you how to go viral” and I’m hoping that I will go viral by putting that in the title and in the first sentence.
Another way to go viral on both Odyssey and YouTube is to get mentioned by someone who already has a great number of followers/subscribers. Odyssey has a Facebook page that your article can be posted, which will allow you to get more recognition for your work. On YouTube you can collaborate with already popular creators, or get shout-outs in their videos. The reason going viral is even relevant in the first place, is because you get paid for views on these two platforms. Odyssey pays you $50 for every 50,000 views and YouTube payouts vary from advertisements, views, merchandise, etc. This concludes my report, thank you all for viewing my article! Give it a share and help me make some money. Cheers!
