Now that it is officially the New Year and school is starting back up again, it’s time to get out of holiday mode and get down to business. After having a month off from school, it can be pretty difficult to get your life back on track and get organized for the day-to-day tasks that comes with being an adult. There are many different approaches that can be taken to get ready for the new year and the new you.
Getting organized:
Being organized could be the most important key to having a fully functioning life. If everything in your everyday life is unorganized, it’s a good chance that you are too. Some tips on getting organized would be: getting a planner and filling out all of the important dates such as; school assignments, test, projects, work dates, and your moms birthday (most important). Making to-do lists is something that everyone has done once in their life and it’s a for sure way to plan out everything that needs to be done that day. Plus getting to cross everything off that list at the end of the day is the best feeling! Another surefire way to make sure that your life is organized is to purge. Go through everything. Your backpack, purse, closet, etc. and get rid of all that clutter. That sweater that your cousin got you for Christmas three years ago-throw it out. That paper on WWII that you wrote for history last semester-get rid of it. As soon as you purge all of the unnecessary junk from your life, you will feel so much more organized.
Relationships:
Whether these relationships are platonic or romantic, they need to be examined and put into three different categories. Who needs forgiveness, whom do you need to thank and who needs to be cut from your life? During the year there are people who you get into arguments with and hurtful things were said on both sides. Forgiving each other and moving on will be a huge weight taken off of your shoulders. There are also people in our lives that we often take for granted and it’s important to thank all of the people who are influential in your life. On the opposite end of the spectrum, there are also people who are toxic and need to be cut from your life. These people could steer you off course on your journey obtain your newly organized and put together life.
Spirituality:
Not everyone is religious, but everyone believes in something. Set aside as little as 10 minutes to practice your daily prayer, walk, mediation, gratitude list or just time to reflect on anything that gets you thinking of something bigger than yourself. It’s important to leave some space in your day and dedicate it just to yourself and what you need.
