How To Get Over Your Broken Heart

We've all had a broken heart before. Sometimes it's movie-esquely dramatic, and sometimes it's extremely private. No matter what, it's hard. The people around you often don't know how to deal with you in your emotional state or don't have the right words to say. After a while, people will start to move on with their lives and expect you to do the same. But don't worry, here are 11 things that no one knows until they've suffered a broken heart, and things to reassure those who are currently in the dumps over their lost love.

1. It's really hard to get out of bed some mornings, sometimes you just need to sleep the pain away.

2. It's terrifying to think about moving on to someone else. Will you ever love again?

3. It's impossible not to think it was something about you. Was I not pretty enough? Was I not funny enough?

4. Your mind may be totally consumed by thoughts of the person you are missing for a while.

5. Sometimes the best way to be OK is to fake it -- at least it's a start.

6. Getting out of your sad space, and your own head, is the best medicine. Try to make the best of each day. Hang out with friends as much as you can!

7. Love will come again, and I promise it will be even better than the last time.

8. Time heals. It's the worst thing to hear in the short run, but it's so true. Be patient.

9. Don't be afraid to trust again. The right person in your life won't hurt you like the last.

10. On that note, don't jump into a rebound with someone. Your heart might not be in the right place. Take some time for yourself first.

11. Ultimately ... YOU WILL BE OKAY!

Enjoy life, and I'm sorry about your heartbreak, but there will be a day when you smile easily again. I promise.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
