During the last few weeks of the semester, things get pretty CRAZY. Teachers try to cram all these assignments together, and it seems that everything you have to do is all due at the same time.
For me, it's hard to finally sit down and focus on studying without getting super overwhelmed or stressed about everything else I have to do. However, over the past couple years, there are some things that I have learned that have helped me find peace with studying and get down to business.
Put the phone away.
As humans, we normally focus most of our attention on what we are looking at. If you are looking at your phone while you are trying to study, you are probably not going to get that much done. Our phones are HUGE distractions and can totally influence whether we get a 100 or a 70 on that test.
Just put the phone away during your study time and remember that you can talk to Sally Sue or Billy Bob after the test is over.
Find your study groove.
In order to achieve good study habits, you need to find out what ways of studying help you the best. Maybe, you study better with a group rather than by yourself. Maybe, you need to re-write your notes then make online flashcards.
It's good to know what type of studying helps you the best if you do not know already, because you will need to know this through all of college.
Plan it out.
If you are anything like me, I have to have a planner with all my assignments, tests, and everything else written down it in. It is a good idea to plan things, especially in college, because time management is a real struggle, sometimes.
Get you a planner and write all your important dates in it. This will help you to not feel so overwhelmed with school and life, and it will allow you have a better focus on your academics.
Tackle things one at a time.
It is really easy to see the list of assignments that you have due for a week and freak out because you don't even know where to start. However, take things one at a time. Think about what is going to take the longest or what is most important and order the assignments in a list.
After that, just go down the list. This allows you to focus on one thing and write it out, so all the things are not as scary as they may seem.
As the semester comes to an end, I hope that you continue to strive for your goals. I hope that you also continue to feel motivated even in the craziness of everything, and I encourage to keep on going! Everything is going to work out in the end, and you're going to do great things!
