How To End 2016 On A Good Note

The New Year is right around the corner! 2016 kinda proved to be a sucky year for most people (from what I saw) but also is starting to look up for most as we near 2017. Here are just a few things we can all do to end 2016 on a good note, and start off 2017 the right way:

Make amends with your past.

This one is probably the biggest and most important which is why I'm starting with it first. In order to make the New Year a good one, you have to come to terms that the past is the past. No matter what. I was once told that you have to let go of something good to make room for something great. No matter what you went through or are currently going through, it's probably best to leave it behind so you can continue on with your future.

Save some money!!

Save money where you can. Instead of going out with your friends every day of the week, figure out some free things do to! Set a weekly budget, and make sure you don't go over it! Your bank account will be thanking you in the New Year :)

Stay healthy.

Drink lots of water!! Make sure you're getting a well balanced meal every time you eat! Cut out sugars when you can. Want a bag of chips? Opt for some fruit instead. Make some time for exercise!! If you can't make it out to the gym, figure out some at home work outs you can do. (Pro tip: Sworkit is my favorite app, and you can pick how long you want to work out for!)

Write some thank-you notes.

Write some thank- you notes to people that you think made an impact on your life/2016 year. A little thank you can go a long way.

Break some bad habits!

Enough with the nail biting! You will feel so much better with your long pretty nails! Let go of people that give you negativity. Old loves, ex-best friends, friends that do nothing but hurt you. Don't let anyone walk over you, just let them go! If someone wants to walk out of your life, let them!

Spend some quality family time.

This one is also very important. Family time is always needed. Have a good sit down dinner, play some board games, go out together. Family time is always soothing to the soul.

Do a random act of kindness.

This is a great way to end 2016! There are so many different acts of kindness. Compliment someone, pay for someone, pay it forward. Smile at someone, start a conversation, get to know someone because you never know what can come out of it. This will be sure to make you feel great for a good end and a great beginning of a new year!!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
