All right, bandwagon fans. It's time to return all the Panthers gear you got for Christmas and burn your Cam jerseys. It finally happened. The Panthers lost. As someone who was raised as a Panthers fan since I was old enough to say "Beuerlein," I was hype about going undefeated for the most regular season games in the franchise (and NFC) history. I mean, I had to sit through so many seasons with a losing record that I was happy about last year's 6-7-1 record. Needless to say, I was slightly inconsolable after today's loss. My boyfriend (also known as Cam Newton) had an awful game while Matt Ryan had a great one. It was torturous to watch. But don't fear, I'm here to tell you how to cope with this unexpected loss after 14 straight wins this season.
1. Cry.
You're gonna need to get it out eventually. Just go ahead and cry.
2. Eat some comfort food.
You don't need to be in shape right now. It's too difficult a time in your life.
3. Think hateful thoughts towards Cam.
"CAM. YOU WERE A CONTENDER FOR MVP. WHY ON EARTH ARE YOU PLAYING LIKE THIS? YOU'RE BETTER THAN THIS, BABE. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU LOOKED LIKE A FOOL NEXT TO MATT FREAKING RYAN." It helps you get your anger out. But only do it for a second. We love Cam.
4. Look at other teams' records.
LOL. The Patriots lost again so now they're 12-3. LOL. The Saints are 6-9. The Browns and the Titans are 3-12. Colts? 7-8. Ravens? 5-10. Cowboys? 4-11. Yeah, it's not pretty out there.
5. Pity the fans of other teams.
Think about how much those poor Cleveland Browns fans are suffering this season. We should feel #blessed.
6. Start laughing because we're still the best team in the NFL.
Still playoff-bound, still have a first-week bye, and still have a chance to get home-field advantage. Cam's most likely not going to win MVP after that game, but things are still looking up for the Panthers. Keep Pounding, boys.
