Being home for the summer in Southern California and specifically Los Angeles, the weather could not get any worse. In LA, the temperature has been as high as the low 100s and even at night, stays at a constant high 70s to 85 degrees. With this intense heat, especially since LA consists of dry weather and winds, many people are curious as to what we can do and enjoy this weather. Well, although it can be extremely scorching and dry, there are still many activities that you can do when in Southern California for the summer.
A very popular activity known to people living right by the coast is to go to a beach. Although it is very hot during the day, going to the beach and being near the water makes yourself cooler and more relaxed. Just bring an umbrella to keep you under the shade and whenever it gets too hot, just jump in the water for a quick minute and then come right back out and you will feel refreshed and cool in no time.
Aside from the beach, going hiking is surprising a very popular activity in the summer. Yes, I know it is extremely tiring and draining to hike, but going more inland such as Hermit Falls, where at the end of your hike you can cliff jump into the water is what makes hiking such a nice and relaxing activity.
Hiking and sweating to get to your final destination where you can just play in the water with friends and family are what makes this such a great summer activity. I frequent Hermit Falls and every time I go, I become extremely sweaty because of the hot weather and walking, but at the end, it is well worth the hike to be able to go into the refreshing water and just enjoy myself and the company.
If you are more of an indoors person, there are still many things to do in the summer to escape the heat. Just as simple as going to a mall or watching movies is also a nice activity to do to kill time and to beat the summer heat. Whether you want to kill time until the weather cools down by shopping, watching movies or reading books, anything indoors is simply the best way to go if you don't want to go outside and sweat as much.
As you see, there are many activities, indoor and outdoor that you can do, so don't just sit at home with the AC on and go out and enjoy the summer with your friends and family.
