When Life Keeps Tearing You Down, Remember This Simple Phrase!

Choose joy, no matter what is happening in life whether it's a trial or addiction or the loss of a loved one look for the good. Trials eat away at us causing our hearts and minds to burn, but the refiner's fire is constantly shaping us towards what we are destined to become. Doubt trickles into our lives convincing us that we can't do it, convincing our minds that happiness is not possible. But the strongest defendant against the villain of trials is happiness.

I know it sounds cliché, but happiness is a choice. The secret to overcoming trials and finding that warm and bright feeling is simply deciding to see the good. Trials sometimes never seem to cease, making us overlook all that we have in this world and all there is to be grateful for. Every trial comes with a lesson and an opportunity for improvement, no matter how hard it may seem. There is always something good to either look forward to or to be grateful for, we must find it!

Taking a moment to really think about you and nobody else is all it takes. Often times, we find ourselves lost in a dark abyss with no hope of ever getting out. That feeling of that happy person you used to seem like only a fantasy. I know that we all have felt this way at one time or another, but it is so simple to be happy again, it's just perspective. Being able to take a situation and try and find the good is all it takes because no matter what, you will grow into a better person. That is why we have trials to help shape us into who we are destined to become. No matter what happens, always remember to choose joy. That is all it really is, the secret to being happy again is just making that choice to rise above it all and choose to see the good.

Joy may not come now, but never stop looking for that silver lining. Even though the mountain of life seems impossible to climb up while constant struggles are being cast your way, just remember it's a choice. Never let the evil, poisonous effect of doubt defile your joy. You always, always, always have a choice whether it is hard or easy you have a choice. I know that trials break us, tear us and destroy our souls, but you have the power to choose. Choose Joy because that's all it is… a choice.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
