Unblock Your Creativity With These 5 Steps

We could all use a little more creativity, especially during this pandemic.

Unblock Your Creativity With These 5 Steps

Most of us have a "quarantine routine" at this point, which can be nice... to an extent. With a set schedule comes stability, but it can also bring boredom and a lack of creativity. Creativity is what drives us, so it's time that you break out of that pesky routine and get some of your creative juices flowing again. Here are a few easy steps to get yourself into the spirit of creativeness.

1. You have to want to do this

Giphy

Be honest with yourself: do you really want to do this? For many people, it can be hard to stray from their daily routine, so if you don't actually want to break away from your normal schedule then you most certainly will not enjoy your fun (and well-deserved) break. I promise no scary monster will come and eat you if you decide to stray off the beaten path, so you've really got nothing to worry about.

2. Go elsewhere

Giphy

I know not everyone has transportation available to them, but if you can get the hell out of dodge then do it. Trust me, you'll thank me later. I don't care if it's freezing cold or blistering hot, just getting away from the same location that you see every day will do WONDERS for your brain. Bonus points if you go somewhere that you've never been before because that will surely lead to new adventures.

3. Get rid of something for a day

Giphy

We all have that one unbeneficial thing that we do religiously, whether it's swiping on Tinder or scrolling on TikTok, so try going without it for a day. I know that sounds super boring, but without those distractions, you will be forced to find something else to occupy your time. All of those thirst traps weren't worth your time anyway so I promise you won't be missing much.

4. Read a damn book

Giphy

I wish this didn't have to be said, but y'all really out here never having read a classic like "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" or "Pride and Prejudice". There's literally no downside to reading these so stop dragging your damn feet and read 'em already. Your body, mind, and soul (if you even have one of those) will thank you, I swear.

5. Do something you don’t want to

Giphy

Now I don't mean go vacuum or do the dishes (although it's probably been too long since you've done either of those), I mean like try something new. Hate scary movies? Well too bad, go watch one. Hate your hair color but you're scared to dye it by yourself? If you go watch a few YouTube videos first, then there's like a 50% chance it'll turn out better than you think. As long as you don't do anything deadly then you'll probably have a decent experience, which is all we can ask for at this point.

Want to start being creative? Here are five steps.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
