Are you ever scrolling through Instagram, dumbfounded how the account you're on is so aesthetically pleasing? Take a look at these tips to guide you in creating a more cohesive, eye catching feed while still staying true to your own unique taste and style.
1. Choose a good photo!
Know what you want to post before you even begin the whole process. Once you choose a photo, you can decide to edit it in a variety of different ways.
2. Crop your photos
Look for distractions in your photos and cut them out by cropping. Sometimes using a square is the best way to create a feed that is standard and repetitive.
3. Adjust the color before you bring it into Instagram.
Most of the time, you can edit your photo in your galleries/photo app. Edit your image so that your photo is not too yellow (warm) or blue (cool). Adjust the color to match the rest of your Instagram feed.
4. Bring down the highlights and bring up the shadows.
Bringing down highlights and shadows bring more definition to your photos.
5. Tone down that filter.
Don't get me wrong, filters are great but you have to use them sparingly. Adding a little bit of a filter can add a pop to your photos; it can also help with making your feed more cohesive!
6. Think about having a cohesive feed.
It can be easy to keep your Instagram feed cohesive if you only post one genre of photography. However, if you tend to post drastically different pictures, cropping photos a specific way every time you post or setting a specific color tone is a step towards building an aesthetically pleasing feed.
7. Captions are everything.
I'm not too great at creating captions, so if you're like me you're going to throw a few emojis and a word describing the mood of your photos. Other times I just look up cute or inspirational quotes, song lyrics or simply put location and date.
8. Have fun with it.
Everyone likes to have photos of them with their besties, matcha lattes and of course their dogs, so don't be afraid to change it up once in a while and post a picture of a cute outfit or a sunset at the beach!
