1. BE yourself!

One of the best things to do for yourself is be yourself, be genuine. Take it from someone with experience. I've caught myself one too many times trying to act a certain way to impress someone, or to try and make someone like me more. THIS IS NOT THE ANSWER I PROMISE. If you are your true self from the get go, you'll make true friends, and enjoy life more, since you wont be putting on an act every time you're around people.

2. LOVE yourself!

THE most important thing in your life is YOU. Care for yourself, care for your body, care about your health. If you care about yourself, and love yourself, you have the ability to love others and care for others. The most important thing and the best thing you can do for yourself, is to love yourself and who you are.

3. Accept and embrace CHANGE!

As time passes, things change. (And things wont stop changing). You will lose good friends, but you'll gain even better ones. Change can be scary, but it can also be really really good. So embrace it! And remember, when doors close, windows open.

4. Challenge yourself!

You will never improve if you keep doing things you're already capable of. You have to challenge yourself to do better. If you decide today that you want to get in shape, you have to fit working out in to your schedule. Life can get hard, but that is just a part of it! Anything new brings challenges, just know that you'll learn from it. Remember to start out small, so you don't overwhelm yourself!

5. Believe In Yourself

If you believe you can, you will. As long as you have faith that you can do something, that's all you need to achieve your goals. (well, that and the determination), but as long as you believe in yourself, you can do whatever you set your mind to.

6. Don't Give Up

Things get hard, but you gotta push through! If you give up because something gets hard you aren't being fair to yourself. You have to persevere! I believe in you!!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
