A Lot Can Change In A Year: Thanksgiving Edition

Many people celebrate Thanksgiving and some do not celebrate. Maybe it is due to not familiarized with the tradition or simply are not interested in celebrating Thanksgiving at all. But, Thanksgiving actually brings family together and celebrate a whole day just for your family. Nowadays, people are busy with their work, school, friends, family issues and financial needs, but Thanksgiving will bring your family together.

Five years ago, my family did not celebrate. Today it's become one of our traditions since none of us have time to spend together throughout the year.

Thanksgiving celebration have changed a little this year for us. Last year we dedicated the whole day for Thanksgiving and my mom started to make a list of things she is going to make on Thanksgiving day. My dad also helped her. She started to cook in the afternoon and she did not get tired at all. She kept working the whole entire day. She made tofu turkey (since we are vegetarian we don't have a real turkey), stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, corns, and green beans. It took my parents three to four hours to finish the whole meal, then we sat together and had our delicious dinner. It was a wonderful day.

This year we are thinking about celebrating it a little differently like inviting our family friends to our house. If they want they can bring something for everyone to eat. So, my parents are thinking about having the same kinds of food from last year but a little more food since it is going to be like 10 to 15 people on the Thanksgiving day. I am also going to help them, just to make their work easier and flexible.

We are going to have some fun games to play like cards and board games. After that, we are going to have dinner around 6 pm. It will a mini buffet inside our house. After that, we are thinking about having a movie night. W have a home theater in our basement. We are most likely to watch the move polar express because Christmas will be around the corner after Thanksgiving. After that, we might have a small chat and our quests will leave by the time 11.

This is our plan for this Thanksgiving. We changed the plan slightly different this year because we thought we want more people to come and be with us on that specific day.

Thanksgiving day has become our tradition now since it actually brings everyone together as a family no matter what differences we have with each other. It is a day which brings joy to our family. I wish everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving day.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
