1. Set an affirmation for the day.
I keep a book of mindful quotes that I read every morning after meditation and use one as a daily affirmation. It helps to set the mood for the day, and what energy you want to attract and exude.
2. Set aside at least 5 minutes each day to clean.
5 minutes is all you need for a quick clean-up! It can be just picking up clothes off the floor of your room, starting some laundry, organizing your desk, or anything that you think will help you stay more clear-minded. This allows for you to start the day off on a productive foot (if you do it in the morning) or end the day feeling even MORE accomplished by cleaning up before going to bed!
3. Read for at least 10 minutes before going to sleep.
I keep a book right on my nightstand and usually read about a chapter each night (or 2 if I feel a bit rebellious). It eases the eyes and makes them more tired, helping to get a good night’s sleep. I also do this because it makes me feel a little less guilty for going on my phone and watching Shane Dawson videos until midnight, but hey, at least we got some reading done!
4. Get out of bed as soon as you hear your alarm go off.
Ok, I KNOW this sounds awful, but trust me, it helps to start the day off with more energy because you can spring up out of bed and get an early start to the day. No excuses for going back to sleep! If this sounds difficult, try putting your phone across the room before getting into bed so it actually forces you to get up and turn it off in the morning.
5. Find an activity you actually enjoy doing.
It can be coloring, listening to music, taking a walk in the park, or watching YouTube! A lot of people tell us not to go on our phones and to go outside, which is TRUE and good for the mind, but don’t let that make you feel bad about watching funny videos or scrolling through social media if you ENJOY doing it! Something that you enjoy doing is NOT a waste of time, even if it is just laughing at memes on Twitter for a half hour. Doing things that make you happy is not a waste of time.
6. Before going to sleep, write down at least 3 things your grateful for.
This allows you to reflect on the positive things that happened though out the day, or that are just constantly present in your life that may not get enough acknowledgement. You can also write down certain goals you want to accomplish the next day or week! Journaling before going to bed is also a great way to end the day, because it helps clear the mind of any stressors that could keep you up at night. Writing it down may also make it not seem as such of a big deal as you think it is! It’s like looking at it through another perspective.
7. Make a vision board.
Ok, this shit actually works. I’ve made a few throughout my life and a lot of the stuff I put on there manifested itself into my life through ways that I originally didn’t plan on it. The Universe works in mysterious ways, all you have to do is TRUST and take opportunities that allow new doors to be opened. Things usually appear when you least expect it. Its also good to be specific when visualizing what you want your future to look like!
8. Find a few days a week to workout or be active in some way.
Working out may sound like the last thing anyone wants to fit in their busy schedule, but trust me, you’ll be thankful for
spending at least 20 minutes of your day to be active. I
make fitness a priority, its an essential for me because I am aware
of how magical its impact can be on the mind, body, and soul. It’s a great and
healthy stress reliever, while also giving you more energy to help tackle that
busy schedule!
