Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you either forgot an assignment, appointment, where to meet someone, etc.? Do you often scramble looking for things like where you put your assignment, or what notes were taken on what day? Sorry, but this could only mean one thing – you’re like is an unorganized mess. It’s okay, you’re not gross or “dumb” for forgetting a really important meeting because everyone has been in the “unorganized boat” at some point in their life!
Your worries and stress are all over because here are a couple helpful organizational skills that can help you fix your “hot-mess” life from someone who is OCD over everything!
1. Writing your life down in a planner or calendar!
In high school, you thought an assignment notebook was just a silly unnecessary thing that was just given to you by your school. But now it should be your baby, your prize position, you should never really go somewhere without it! Since we all have our handy-dandy phones, they cannot just be used for texting or scrolling through the latest news feed but they can also help you by scheduling appointments or important dates into your calendar.
This is an easy way to never forget what is going on throughout the week, especially because you can set it up where your phone to send you notifications. If you’re like me, having a physical planner works as well as your phone!
2. Binders, binders, binders!
Organizing your work within binders not only organizes it within subjects by using dividers but also it allows you to have a place for your work when you are done with it or in the process of it. Folders can work too but often times you’re just throwing your papers in the folder making them out of order and becoming crinkled as well!
3. Getting your assignments/work done early!
Procrastination, according to some, is key – been there done that! Admit it though, every time you procrastinate you just end up being awake all night, the work isn’t quality work, you become one big ball of stress, and in the end, you say that you won't procrastinate next time but you do anyway. But this time CHANGE IT! schedule it on your calendar days in advance to start working on a paper or project. That way you are able to go back to it in your free time so you’re taking your time instead of rushing through it.
Also by starting your work in advance you can then look it all over, correct it, and make sure it 100%! From being on top of everything, you will be able to gather other feedback from people who have provided information as well.
By adjusting to these skills, your “hot-mess” life won't be existing anymore and your organized life will be intact!
