Is the fine really worth it?
Will they notice if I'm not there?
You think I can just check in and leave?
The multiple questions that goes through every sorority girls mind before FBM (formal business meeting), weekly meetings, greek sing practice, and any other mandatory events. We are busy college students don't they get that?
We wonder sometimes if it's worth it or how mad our parents really will be if they see the fine. But why does all of this cross our minds?
It's not because we don't love our sisters or aren't proud to wear those greek letters but maybe it's because of the word mandatory. It makes us feel as if we have no choice, and what do college students love the most?
The choice in everything, the fact they don't have parents to make decisions for them. In college, our choices are limitless and when mandatory is tacked on to the beginning of an event title well there just isn't much choice in that is there?
But we still go, and we still love our sorority sisters but the first thing we hear from the person next to us is "When is this gonna be over?"
So I challenge you girls rather than dreading the length or thinking of committing the sin of skipping think of it as a social event. A time to see your sisters and catch up, sure we have to be quiet sometimes and yes there is a hefty fine for your presence but think of that at your presence being worth that much and make the best of it.
