Well, Netflix has announced that it will be removing How I Met Your Mother from Netflix. As I restarted from season 1 episode 1, I am realizing so much more than I ever thought I would understand. After reading an article last week on this amazing TV show, I thought to myself "Hmmm, what is different now then when I last watched the first season and the show in general." Then I came to my biggest conclusion. The realization is, Barney has been in love with Robin since the beginning.
Most people have probably either thought about this or never heard or thought of this. From his first iconic line about Robin to their marriage and divorce, the chemistry in between the two is undeniable and iconic. While Marshall and Lily love each other, the don't have the problems an ever day couple would face. I realized this new observation when Barney and Robin hung out for the first time by themselves without the gang. Even this was their first time, Barney still went after Robin even though he knew of Ted's past experiences with her and her fright to commitment. Even when that did not work, throughout the series you can catch on hints of Barney calling Robin beautiful or pretty. These simple words help make who he is and the affect of Robin on Barney is undeniable. Both characters are always there for each other and their affection gives them a powerful bond. I know the first time when I watched, it hurt that the series broke them up in the end. But now, it's much worse. With Barney's feelings for her constant, it must not have been an easy divorce.
How I Met Your Mother will always have significance for me and its impact on my character has taught me the importance of friends and family.
