1. Diversity

Big cities can be a harbor for so many different innovations, people, experiences, and especially… food! In addition, the diversity in big cities is influential in what the city is and who it has become.

2. Connections

With thousands of people living in one area, there are so many opportunities to meet people both professionally and socially. Big cities are also an attraction for huge corporations and industries to make their mark. Simply being in proximity to these businesses can be a great advantage if you utilize it.

3. Attractions

Shopping malls, unique stores, influential monuments and iconic scenery is what comes to your head when you think about big cities like Miami, LA, and New York all over the world. From the Latin influences and turquoise waters of Miami’s South Beach to the illuminated buildings and traditional bagels of New York City, the energy of these big cities amazes many that travel there. Even people from across the globe desire to travel to big cities because of the attractions, the energy, and the purpose.

4. Exposure

Living in a big city would mean exposing yourself to different languages, cultures, and not to mention Thai, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Japanese and almost every kind of delivery or take out just few minutes away. This can become such a fundamental part of your life that if there wasn’t a gym equally as close it could become a cause for concern. More importantly, big cities are a place where religion, knowledge, and perspective will all be different and interesting ultimately allowing you to get a better understanding for how many ideologies and perspectives are out there.

5. Independence

Unlike small towns where everybody knows everybody, big cities allow you to find yourself without as much pressure about what other people are going to say. You can fit in as yourself anywhere you want in a big city because everyone’s doing the same thing. Living in a major city is empowering; plainly surviving is an accomplishment. From real estate prices soaring to trying to make your one bedroom into a “loft” to maneuvering through traffic to get to work on time like it’s your actual job, living in a big city is an accomplishment. Fair to say if you can figure out the subway and Metrorail systems this easily, you’re going to have an easier time kicking it in today’s fast-paced world.

Embracing the urban cultures, beautiful attractions, and fast moving pace of a big city can be the best decision in your life. So whether it’s for a few years or just a week, visit a big city and search for all I’ve found in mine and more.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
