How Finals Make You Feel, As Told By Puppies

It's almost time for finals week, and almost every student, college and high school alike, dread over its quick arrival. It almost seems like yesterday you were going through syllabus week and easily coasting through the year and then next thing you know, it's time for finals.

Finals week is one of the most stressful parts of a student's educational career. They are the exams that basically dictate if and what a student has learned the required material in a specific class. So, to help possibly relieve some of that anxiety, here are four feelings that every college student goes through during finals week, as told by puppies.

1. Anxiety

One of the most common feelings associated with Finals Week is anxiety. In a lot of classes, Final exams make up the heaviest component of our grade. For some classes, your final grade is your grade for the entire year. In these cases, finals are literally a make or break situation. It's the one grade that can easily sway your GPA to being in a solid position to being pretty bad.

Other courses that require a prerequisite, your final grade can determine if you will even be eligible for the course. For some, finals can change your GPA to the point where it can change your outlook for the future and the possible colleges or graduate programs they are interested in.

2. Overwhelmed

Finals always occur at a time where there is a lot going on school wise. They are always at the time where you have seemingly 20,000 other things going on. Depending on the professor, some courses require an exam as a final and others require an end of the semester project.

It can seem nearly impossible to find to time to focus on your personal well-being and it seems like you have no time to do all of the studying that you have to do. Being overwhelmed is not a fun experience, but always remember that soon it will all be over.

3. Tired

Finals is undoubtedly the most exhausting time of a school year. It's energy draining, extensive, and just takes a lot out of you. It's unending time spent in the library or study hall trying to make sense of everything you've learned and trying to find mechanisms to remember course material.

It's so easy to forget to simply sleep during this time. It feels like every time you shut your eyes or try to relax, it's the little thought in the back of your mind that you should be doing something to help prepare for your exam or project.

4. Happy

It is so good to be happy during finals week. It is the end of the semester and you have worked so hard to get to where you are in your academic career! You're so close to having a break from constant homework and stress. It's almost time to relax and be stressed-free for a while.

Wishing you the best during Finals Week and I hope you can be as happy as the last puppy on this list!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
