How I Feel About Harry Potter And The Cursed Child

Sunday, July 31st, 2016. The day fans have been waiting nine years for. The day the eight story of the Harry Potter series came out. There have been many different views and opinions. So I have decided to talk about my feelings on the book. WARNING IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK STOP NOW!

First off, let me make this clear, I love the book. I read it in three hours. At first I was not sure how I felt, but then I fell in love with it. It continued the story I have been in love with for years. That being said, there are a few things I wish were different and a few things that stood out that I loved.

To start out, I just would like to start out by saying I was very upset with the lack of Teddy Lupin, Hugo Granger-Weasly, James Sirius Potter, and Lily Luna Potter. I shall go more in-depth as the article continues.

Now Harry and Albus Severus having issues are normal. The middle child typically feels the weight of a family legacy the most. They don't want to let down their parents, they don't want to live in the oldest shadow, they want to make a name for themselves. Now throw in having your dad be a world famous wizard, being the only Slytherin in your family, and being teased at the place your dad told him was where he felt safest, it is recipe for issues. But from my point of view, this does not make Harry a shitty dad to Albus. Does he say some mean things? Yes, every parents does. People do make mistakes and have human moments. But Harry tries to make it clear that Albus being a Slytherin changes nothing. Albus though starts distancing himself from his family because he feels as if he was a let down. So he tries to find a flaw in his dad. He believes Harry's flaw is that he didn't care about Cedric's death so he wanted to make that right by bringing him back from the dead. Which just kind of shows how blind Albus is to his father's past and doesn't understand at first what his dad went through.

Now I never imagined saying this, but Draco Malfoy's son, Scorpius Malfoy is the best character in the play. He is so funny, sarcastic, smart, and just amazing. Literally when he realized that Albus is gone because messing with time changes everything, he used his wits alone to fix everything, and he did. He could have left it the same since he was popular and a "king" but didn't because he knew it was not the right thing to do. Scorpius is literally the best friend you could have, he is so caring and understanding of Albus and listens to him. Even though Scorpius lost his mother and people first think he is Voldemort son, he listens to Albus' whining. He also stands up for himself towards the end and tells Albus that he never seems to ask how he is doing and if he is okay. Scorpius is the biggest cause of Albus realizing he is just being a self-absorbed, self-pitying brat.

But lets just talk about the biggest thing, Voldemort has a daughter. He had a daughter before he died with Bellatrix Lestrange. Everything about her was just strange, personally don't know how I feel about her or that whole story line of her trying to bring Voldemort back. Or the fact that if Cedric was humiliated and lived, he would become a death eater. Actually no, I know how I feel about that, I hate it.

I do know one thing, having Harry actually watch his parents death because Albus wanted to rebel and be a hero in a way his dad wasn't which ended up almost destroying everything made me so upset. How, after even just knowing about the war itself could you think "Yes, it is a good idea to try to bring this boy back to like because obviously my father doesn't care that he killed him". I am sorry Albus Severus but you are a spoiled brat and I don't like you until you realize what your dad actually went though when you are watching him watch his parents die. Then you become somewhat tolerable.

The development of Harry, Hermione, Ron, Ginny and Draco is amazing though. To see where they are is really something I wanted. I'm glad they grew up, all there lines were great. I love that Hermione became Mister for Magic, I love every scene Draco and Harry have, and I love Ron's Dad jokes.

Albus and Scorpius relationship is amazing. As I was reading it I was convinced that at the end something was going to happen and the two of them would start dating. The lines, the stage directions, the whole play set it up for the two of them to be in love almost in the same way that Hermione and Ron are in love. I actually am kind of let down that they did not take the chance they had and show that even in the wizarding world, it is okay to be who you are. I think that would have been a huge and important step. But instead we made Scorpius end up asking Rose out. Which is almost the equivalate of Hermione asking Draco out in their third year.

Now back to what I said in the beginning, I am glad I got to see Harry through the rebel of the family and how there relationship is. But, I want to know how his relationship with James, Lily, and Teddy was like. They were very left out of this play. Almost seemed as if that they were forgotten to exist. I want to know what happened to them and what they might have thought of the whole aftermath of their brother possibly bringing Voldemort back.

Also, to be honest I have no idea who the curse child is. I assume it is Voldemort's daughter but it really could be Albus or Scorpius as well. I guess that part is up to the reader?

At the end of the day, it was pretty good and I 100% will see the play if I can. But I just wanted more and I am now still hoping for more to come. Whether that be a new novel, another play, or even a comic I will be okay with it. Just hopeing we don't have to wait nine years this time.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
