Christmas. It’s the happiest time of the year! There are several traditions that everyone has, and each one is different! It’s a time where families come together and celebrate. The bright lights, trees, and mistletoe are put up. And don’t even get me STARTED on the delicious treats that come along with Christmas — *sigh*.
A very important part of Christmas is the music. Radio stations dedicate their whole air time to Christmas music. But when is the correct time to break out the Christmas jams?
Christmas has always been a large part of my childhood. My dad is a Christmas fanatic, which has created several amazing memories. Since Christmas is such a big deal at my house, we want to put up the tree ASAP. Pretty much every year the tree is up before Thanksgiving. With that, Christmas music is played before Thanksgiving as well. That doesn’t mean we don’t love Thanksgiving though! We just really love Christmas.
Now here’s the question: How early is too early to listen to Christmas music? This has been debated for years. There are some people who believe Christmas music should be saved for the month of December, while others listen to Christmas music year-round. How do we decide who is correct? Should we even be told when we can or cannot listen to music? Several questions follow the simple question of when we can listen to Christmas music.
What I do know is that Christmas is a time of peace and celebrating however you choose. Fighting over when we listen to Christmas music and creating contention is needless. Honestly, why does it matter when someone listens to Christmas music? You don’t have to listen to it. If you’re not a fan of Christmas music, you never have to listen to it. If you love Christmas music and want to listen to it year-round… go for it!!!
That’s the cool thing about freedom; you can do pretty much whatever you want.
Ultimately when it comes down to it, the holiday season is about love. There’s no need to fight over when someone can listen to Christmas music. Celebrating together and spending time together is what it’s all about. So, break out the Egg Nog whenever you want (I may or may not have Egg Nog in my fridge already), listen to Christmas music whenever you please, and most importantly, spread joy and happiness. There’s too much hate in the world, so focus on happiness and peace.
