Though school, especially college, can be enjoyable at times, it can also be frustrating and difficult. After several month of cramming for exams, writing tedious essays, and letting the anxiety that comes along with meeting tight deadlines, students look to summer for freedom.

After stressing all year, many college students look forward to their summer vacation, which is well deserved.

However, for every student that longs for this summer vacation all semester long, there is someone who becomes anxious when they realize how open their schedule might be for the summer. College's busy nature makes sitting on the couch playing video games and/or watching television all day seem perfect. After a while, being a couch potato can become boring and repetitive.

With that being said, I bet there are many college students out there who are already feeling bored and restless even though summer has just begun.

One convenient and profitable way to stay busy over the summer is to get a job or internship. If you already have a job and you are still bored out of your mind, you could always pick up more hours at work. Many students have a part-time job just for the summer to make some extra cash.

Whether you decide to spend your money or to save it for the future, working and interning both keep you busy and out of the house. In the end, working over the summer is a win-win.

Another way to stay busy is to volunteer. It’s amazing how many places are looking for people who are willing to lend a few hours out of their week to help out. Volunteering will keep you busy, could possibly boost your confidence, help you discover what you are most interested in, and is a great resume-booster!

Besides getting a job, an internship, or volunteering, you could also spend time outside. Beautiful summer weather doesn’t last all year. Whether you live in an urban, suburban, or rural area, there are always ways to get outside to enjoy the sunshine.

Of course, these suggestions are not here to say that being bored is always a bad thing. Boredom can be good in the respect that it creates more appreciation from entertainment, and it proves that life is not always exciting and that's okay. Yes, one boring day every now and again is okay, and sometimes needed. However, elongated months of boredom are something I'd personally like to avoid.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
