From the days of tribal house classic “Brinca’ to the anthemic “You Used to Hold Me” with Xaviera Gold, Chicago producer/DJ Ralphi Rosario has proven to be one of the most prolific artists on the electronic dance music scene for quite some time now. On his latest album “2 Sides to the Story”, the house music mastermind pulls out more showstopping songs further pushing expertise in the space. Going from hard-hitting tribal-tech tracks to fierce diva house, the LP covers a wide spectrum of sounds that make up today’s evolving dance music realm.
“2 Sides of the Story” starts off with the pumping techno-infused underground sound of tribal track “La Jungla” featuring vocals from Dominican-American recording artist Julissa Velos of American Idol fame. The album then goes into hi-NRG pop and more diva house territory on “Pump This” - which showcases the soaring, sassy and soulful vocals of fellow Illinoisans Yvonne Gage and Simbryt Dortch. Veering into dark jungle house land, “Da Da Tee” is excellent tribal-tech flaunting the famed circuit sound of the Manhattan and ‘Lower Lower Manhattan’ (also known as South Beach) house music scenes popularized by Rosabel - Rosario’s famed DJ/production unit with Miami-based producer/DJ and long-time music partner Abel Aguilera. Switching things up, “I Found Love” embraces downtempo electronica by way of melodic deep house topped off by sensual vocals from flamenco/pop/folk artist Patricia Ortega. Accompanied by Chicago-based producer Jay Cappo, the title track provides more on the mellow tip with its soft piano sounds, spoken word vocals and lush production.
House music continues to venture into interesting places and Ralphi Rosario is someone who is right at the forefront. Whether it’s his remixes for the likes of Ricky Martin and Pussycat Dolls or his own productions and DJ sets, he continues to set the pace on the dance music scene. “2 Sides to the Story” is nothing less in that regard.
