The weather is getting warmer, the sun is setting later, and summer is quickly approaching. Most of us are excited to go home, not worry about grades, and most importantly, play with our dogs. Being without our BFFs for so long is pure torture, and we try to do anything to make up for lost time. However, what ever you do, do not bring your dog on errands with you.
I know you have heard it time and time again, but it is something that needs to be repeated until it's stopped. Even if your dog loves car rides, even if you're just making a quick stop, even if you think it is not that hot out, don't do it.
Maybe you're curious as to why not? Here's a better look...
If it is 72 degrees Fahrenheit outside, the inside of your car is 116 degrees within one hour.
If it is 80 degrees Fahrenheit outside, your car will reach 99 degrees within 10 minutes.
Rolling down your window does little to change the temperature inside your car.
Dogs can't sweat, ergo they have no way of cooling themselves down.

So what should you do if you see a dog in a hot car?
Write down the cars make, model, and licenses plate number.
Ask near by businesses to make an announcement to try and find the owner quickly.
If the owner cannot be found, call the non-emergency police line in your town, or animal control and wait for them to arrive.
Still not convinced? Look at these pictures of really cute dogs, who could have a brain damage or even die within 15 minutes of being left in your car.
If you love your dog, and even if your dog loves car rides, please do not bring them on errands with you. They will understand.
