Sylly week: the first week of classes in which everyone celebrates being reunited with their favorite people in their favorite college town while ignoring the fact that it's the first week of classes. Anything goes during syllabus week! Check out your horoscope to see how your week will go:

Sign: Aries

Breed: Jack Russell Terrier

You've always been the fun friend, but lately your adventurous ways have seemed to backfire. This syllabus week will be one for the books, but don't wear shoes you can't run in or you might find yourself in a seriously uncomfortable cage.

Sign: Taurus

Breed: Weimaraner

Although you're loyal to the pals in your tight circle, you can give off quite the cold shoulder when you want to. Commonly known as the "Grey Ghost," some "ghosting" is definitely foreseeable in your future. Don't be surprised when you're dodging people from the past almost every night out during syllabus week. Just try to blend in, I guess.

Sign: Gemini

Breed: Chihuahua

Because you're indecisive, you will get ready at the very last possible minute while blowing up with friends phones with the "what are you wearing?" texts. And, although you're quite talkative, when you find yourself in a crowd surrounded by strangers during syllabus week on your first adventure downtown, you might start to panic. Remember, since you're a freshman, you don't have to drink like the big guys. Just be yourself, and try not to talk anyone's ear off before midnight.

Sign: Cancer

Breed: Golden Retriever

Given your genuine and nurturing nature, you're always the known as the "responsible one" or "mom" of the group. Sorry to tell you, this syllabus week won't be any different for you than a typical weekend out — you will be up until all hours of the night waiting for your friend's "I got home safely" texts, you'll be giving advice in the bathrooms and you'll be delivering your special hangover remedies to all your pals the next morning.

Sign: Leo

Breed: Yorkshire Terrier

Oh, Leo. The life of the party, the center of attention, the one dancing and singing, you're the definition of "sylly" during syllabus week! Your friends will be able to spot you across the bar at any given moment because of the dramatic design on the front of it and the fact that your hands are always in the air. Just don't forget that you actually have to go to (at least some) classes during syllabus week.

Sign: Virgo

Breed: Border Collie

As a hardworking and extremely intelligent student, syllabus break doesn't necessarily mean anything to you. It's just the first week of school, and might I add that your professors will go a bit overboard with the reading assignments. Luckily, you consider a night on the couch with a glass of wine and a good book better than a night at the overcrowded bar anyway.

Sign: Libra

Breed: Basset Hound

You've had a very relaxing and peaceful summer, which is fitting because you are a pretty well-rounded individual who values "you" time. Normally, because of your role as peacemaker and the strong relationships you've developed with peers, you find yourself spending more time in bathrooms giving advice and hugs than you do in the actual party scene. This syllabus week, however, your peaceful vibes will be interrupted when you and the pals have an unexpected guest show up at your housewarming party.

Sign: Scorpio

Breed: American Boxer

Your favorite part about the first week of school is the fact that you get to hit up your second home, the recreational center. Between class, the gym (because you need to work out every single day, possibly multiple times) and your social life, syllabus week will be a busy one for you. You'd be surprised whom you'll meet when you take off the headphones and look around the rec this week — you might just meet someone worth your while.

Sign: Sagittarius

Breed: Rottweiler

You have some very admirable qualities when it comes to communicating, but lately you've been overlooking them. This syllabus week, you will find yourself having to confront some issues from prior years with people you will most definitely run into the first week. Whether it's a prior or current roommate, an ex or even that girl in your sorority that you were on kind of salty terms with, you will find yourself facing the issue and dissolving it during your first week back at school.

Sign: Capricorn

Breed: Cocker Spaniel

You come from a tight-knit family, so the first week back is always hard for you to adjust to. The last syllabus week you found yourself not partaking in the festivities due to feelings of loneliness and isolation. I challenge you this syllabus week to get involved and meet new people. Although the people at school aren't your family, you may find that they can be the next best thing, making school your home away from home.

Sign: Aquarius

Breed: Chow Chow

People usually let your cute face fool them. They think you're affectionate and sweet, which you are from a superficial stance. When you get to know people at a more personal level, though, you're very flighty, and you get your feathers easily ruffled, solely because you're sensitive. Your friends are used to your unpredictable behavior patterns, but this syllabus week you will surprise them and yourself by accepting a date with a new person who might ground your unpredictable ways and see through your exterior.

Sign: Pisces

Breed: German Shepherd

You're charming and talkative, maybe a little too charming and talkative. These qualities will help you meet many people this syllabus week, but make sure to do some listening as well. You might even find out something about yourself that way.

Take it from the dogs, shed your leash this school year — happy sylly week!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
