Poetry On Odyssey: For The Hopeless Romantic Who Needs To Be Hopeful

To be hopeless is to never have what you're looking for.

Memories

Hopeless romantic.

Constantly thinking your prince in shining armor is going to show up out of the blue and sweep you off your feet.

Making a forts and cuddling under the blankets, our bodies intertwined laying on the pillows watching movies and throwing popcorn.

Taking walks hand in hand, only to be twirled around and dipped into a kiss.

Falling in love even by the slightest things they do, like the way they scrunch their nose or the way they say a certain word.

Planning candlelight dinners of their favorite foods.

Singing duets at the top of your lungs together on a night drive while holding hands.

Kissing at stop lights, being pulled in and you feel the quick electricity zip through your lips and into your body.

Laying under the stars looking at the constellations, slowly inching closer to one another until you are nearly inseparable.

Hopeless romantic.

Staying awake at night wondering when they are going to message you back.

Constantly thinking that you have to be perfect for them or they will drop you in an instant.

The excitement you have when planning a special night only for them to cancel and break your heart a little.

The long walks you take turn into long conversations and long arguments and long nights laying in bed wondering what you did wrong.

Falling out of love when they do things like hit you or call you names or when you find out they have been unfaithful the whole time.

The songs you used to sing with them are only a memory and hurt when you hear them, you break down.

The popcorn thrown around during the fort and movie night lay hidden under the couch, the blankets used are folded neatly on your shelf and you lay in the middle of the floor replaying the night in your head.

Hopeless romantic.

You see, no matter how much you believe in love we are all going to experience heartbreak and the sadness that ensues.

The man you once loved now lay in bed with another human, their heart full of love and affection but yours turned to shreds dripping of blood from the shards of heartbreak they created.

See, being a hopeless romantic isn't just about the fantasy of having a perfect relationship with the perfect guy and then getting married and having a perfect life.

Fall in love, fall out of love, be a hopeful romantic not a hopeless romantic.

For love is the most confusing piece of art anyone can ever come across, so intricate and delicate but to say you are a hopeless romantic is to say you will never have what you are looking for.

Be who you want and see who you want and life will work itself out.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
