Psalm 107 28-31 “Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind.”
"Texas Strong" is the saying and I love it. But you know what I love even more, that even in the midst of chaos and destruction, God is even stronger and in complete control. It is hard to comprehend all that has gone on over the last few days with Hurricane Harvey in full effect, but God knows. In the eye of the storm, He remains in control.
I pray that we turn to God when we start to doubt, when we are lost for words or when we just don’t know what’s next. We can try to put the pieces to this disaster together and take matters into our own hands, but I promise we will fail. Trust in God, He has it all figured out.
God is just in an unjust world.
Hurricane Havery is a disastrous event, but the Lord is using it to heal our country.
When I saw a post on social media asking where God was at a time like this and what he was doing, I was in dignified. But one thing that gave me strength was a brother's response that said: "I see my God bringing people together of every race to help one another in a time our country was on a verge of race wars." I don't think we'll ever have God figured out because he is more than that. But I do see him here. Because despite the utter destruction and loss, Houston comes together to help create human chains and rescuing strangers from cars and high waters. That is my God. Working in His people. I don't doubt it for a second. And I do not doubt that Houston and the surrounding towns and cities will recover because in the end God brings the sun to dry out the land and we see hope again. I do not doubt his goodness. He is still good.
At the end of the day we must be still and know. Have Faith and trust in the power of the God we serve.
