We are in no doubt in a scary and trying time in 2020. Our lives will be forever changed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. With proper precautions being taken we can only hold on to one thing that is in our ability to keep, which is hope. Here are 5 reasons to be hopeful during the pandemic.
1. We are trying hard to find a vaccine for the illness

A vaccine for the virus is already in the works. Scientists are working hard to keep the illness away in present and future times. Although no official vaccine exists right now, trials and studies have been in the works to help alleviate the COVID-19 vaccine. This gives me hope knowing that we are trying to find a way to avoid something like this in the future. It is interesting and amazing how individuals can use their skills and knowledge to try and come up with a solution for COVID-19 so individuals can have a less change of contracting the illness. It may take months or years for a vaccine to occur, but at least it is a work in progress. 2. There are many precautionary measures people are taking to combat the issue

Although I can't speak for everyone, we were given the knowledge and tips needed to do our best in staying safe from COVID-19. Social distancing is something that is being promoted everywhere such as work, stores, and walks in the park. Washing hands is something that is encouraged, at least for 20 seconds and as often as possible. Although not all symptoms are noticeable immediately, we have the basic symptoms to look out for that can help us take action if we think we have it which involves a high fever, shortness of breath, and a cough. Although panic buying as become a trend during this pandemic with individuals buying cleaning supplies and toilet paper to a max, it can be an inconvenience at times when I need these items from the store, but perhaps people are being more mindful of trying to stay inside as long as they can and are cleaning much more, which helps flatten the curve of spreading the illness. In all, have hope that most people are doing what they can to combat COVID-19. An article from the CDC website is below giving information about COVID-19 and how to protect yourself.

3. You are not alone

Everyone is being affected whether it's emotionally, mentally, physically, socially, economically, etc. This does not sound too fun or appealing but the good news is you are truly not alone. Everyone is facing hardships during this pandemic but I have also seen acts of courage of individuals sticking together to fight the virus whether it's through food donations, car parades, 10 feet apart walks, nurses going into work to help the most sickest of patients, landlords offering free rent, and much more. Not everyone is going through the exact same situation during COVID-19 and some do have it worse then other's unfortunately, but no one is alone when being affected. Seniors can't go to prom, people lost jobs, nurses risk their lives helping patients, the list goes on. When we realize we are not alone though, we can do our best more to help and know that others can relate to similar issues during COVID-19, giving hope that we all come together because we all know how stressful this time is.
4. This is only temporary

Nothing last forever. This will pass, We don't know when but it will. There is already so much progress. Hope tells us that it will pass, just remember that.
5. Many people are recovering and it seems like the illness is starting to peak

Although many unimaginable deaths have occurred, there is also hope of many recoveries. We see stories all over Facebook of patients being discharged who beat and survived COVID-19. Hope can help us fight this illness and pray for those who have it. Below is an interesting article of recoveries and spreads from COVID-19, and information to pay attention to.
