Whatever major you might have, every honors program challenges its students hardcore. We do more difficult and longer readings and assignments, we are expected to be model students that can guide any other bright-eyed dreamer into academic success (while also juggling clubs and other responsibilities), and we're doing this even though it's optional. If you're an honors program student, you know what's up, and you know how sick and tired you are of hearing this goddang phrases:
1. "You're smart, it shouldn't take you long."
Is that so? Say that to my procrastinating face. Maybe you'll fix me.
2. "You should know your thesis topic by now."
Should I? Should I really? Because now I'm panicking.
3. "You're used to a heavy workload."
If crying into my pillow about how stressed and unhappy I am count as being "used to it," then sure.
4. "Can you help me proofread my essay/do my lab?"
I know what that actually means, so no, I'm not going to do it for you. Suffer like the rest of us. SUFFERRRRR.
5. "You should work at the tutoring center."
I actually barely know what I'm doing, I don't need to drag any other poor soul into this hot mess.
6. "You're such an overachiever."
Okay, then you're an underachiever. Which is worse? Or how about IT DOESN'T MATTER STOP JUDGING OTHER PEOPLE BASED ON YOUR OWN INSECURITIES.
7. "Why are you doing it if it's optional?"
If we're being honest, I DON'T KNOW. To challenge myself? To get that sweet garb for graduation? To get a special notation on my diploma? Who even knows anymore when you're so tired?
