The Honest Bucket List For Your Miami College Years
Discovering Ohio

A bucket list is defined as experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have or accomplish during their lifetime. College is the time for meeting lifelong friends, figuring out your passions, falling in and out of love, making mistakes, and figuring out who you are. With this in mind, I believe the completion of a college bucket list is in order for these four years of adventure. At Miami, there are so many traditions to be made, insiders to have, and opportunities to create memories. It's important we set our goals and make these years some of the best of our lives. With the help from Miami Student body, here is your official bucket list for your four years in this beautiful college town.

  1. Do the CJs 14 day challenge.
  2. Shotgun a beer on the roof of an educational building.
  3. Road trip to the Derby.
  4. Road trip anywhere. In order to keep your love for Oxford in good condition, sometimes a weekend away is necessary.
  5. Buy your TA a drink.
  6. Sleep outside your freshman year dorm the week of graduation.
  7. Do something you swore to yourself you'd never do.
  8. Get a full plate of fried chicken at Beat The Clock.
  9. Attend the dining halls with a football player.
  10. Eat as much as he does.
  11. Ride in the back of a truck because that’s legal here.
  12. Buy a drink at the bar for a complete stranger. You never know... Hook up at King.
  13. Get a bagel named after you at Bagel and Deli.
  14. Attend a playoff game for the hockey team.
  15. Attend the little 500 once. Once is enough.
  16. Streak across Cook field.
  17. Swipe into Harris dining hall just for the ice cream machine.
  18. Live in an apartment Uptown with your best friends.
  19. Be seated upon walk in at Pattersons on a Saturday.
  20. Eat a whole pizza from Will’s…by yourself.
  21. Watch a meteor shower in the fields on the outskirts of town.
  22. Study abroad for a semester.
  23. See the world.
  24. Have a heart to heart with your best friend on the steps of Jimmy John's at 3 am.
  25. Be on either the giving or receiving end of the makings of a bomb cooler.
  26. Complete the Miami Bar Hop challenge on your 21st birthday.
  27. Make it from kegs and eggs to bar close on GBD.
  28. Skinny dip at Hueston Woods.
  29. Buy a Mom a drink on Mom’s Weekend.
  30. Step on the seal (just kidding).
  31. Live a little!

Hopefully, these ideas have helped you create your personal list. Every minute, hour, and day counts in college. Make sure to spend them with the people you love, doing what you love, in the place we love most.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
