I have heard so many people say, "If you aren't excited to go back to school, then you chose the wrong school."
For some, this might be true, but for me, it's the complete opposite. I adore where I go to school and I love all the people I've met at school. But this doesn't stop me from being sad when it's time to go back after a long break.
I am super excited to go back to school, even though I'm also feeling a bit sad, too.
Being home is so fun, and I love being able to spend that time with family and friends. So, yes, it's hard for me to say goodbye to my pets and my family.
Leaving my pets stinks, and I know it stinks for them, too. I have to say goodbye to homecooked meals for a bit and being able to lounge around and not stress about school work. Seeing all my friends during the break is so exciting and makes me really happy.
So, as much as I'm happy we are all doing our thing, it still stinks when we have to separate again.
Even though I get a bit sad when I have to pack up again and leave for school, I bounce back again shortly. It helps that when I go back to school, we jump right back into classes. It helps to have a routine.
It's also great that when I leave, my family and I still remain very close. I am really grateful for that. My sister never forgets to update me on every crisis in her teenage life, and my brother never forgets to let me know what new trick the cats or dog learned.
Missing your family after a long break or even during the year is normal. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You can be having the time of your life at school and still feel homesick.
