The First Time At Homecoming

Homecoming Fairytale

The biggest day in every teenager's life. A day for all girls to feel like a princess.

I finally got to experience that day. Honestly, I could've went last year but I was unable to. So this year, I decided to go to my school's homecoming dance. I paid the ticket, bought a dress, and even had a nice pair of shoes waiting for me to wear since the day I got them. I was incredibly excited. Prior to the dance, my friends and I decided to meet up at one's house to take pictures and have the traditional homecoming dinner. We went to Kani House and ate at their hibachi grill.

But everything wasn't simple. Obviously, before all that, we had to get ready. As the only person in the group, I didn't know how to put on makeup so with the aid of my friends and mom, they put some nice makeup on me. It felt weird but to be honest, it felt magical. Mostly because the foundation covered up my acne but still. I felt like an actual princess. I did my hair sweet and simple: straight. And of course, to follow up with my hair, I had a black and simple lace dress to match. My hair color is naturally a dark brown so I thought that the black dress would look nice on me. And then I was picture ready.

(For my friends' privacy, I decided to cut them out of the pictures)

From the looks of this picture, if no one could tell that I was secretly in pain from my shoes, that would be great. But hey, what's a pretty heel if it doesn't hurt a bit?

Anyways, as we got to the dance, the music was blaring. From a range of songs such as "Closer" by the Chainsmokers to "I hate you I love you" by gnash, I'd say the music was pretty good. Although I was a bit shy to dance, I still had a great time seeing my other friends all dressed up. The area at homecoming was absolutely stunning. I wished I took more pictures but I guess I had too much fun to stop and think about pictures. But to explain it in words, I'd say the place was almost magical. The lights varied from blue to green and there were movies plastered all around the school. The fanciest decorations surrounded the room. But my favorite place of all? The courtyard. I absolutely loved the christmas lights on the bushes and how there were brilliant white and yellow lights shining on the dark atmosphere. It was absolutely breathtaking.

But aside from the decorations, the time I spent there, socializing and taking pictures, was mostly spent on walking around. My friends and I joked around, saw some old friends, and even took some goofy pictures of ourselves. We were the type of people who didn't dance as much. However, we did occasionally go to the dance floor and attempted to dance. Either way it was still a great experience. Heck, we even got to be in our DJ's vlog.

But all in all, homecoming was a magical night. It felt like I entered a Disney fairytale movie (without a prince). But hey, who needs a date when you got your friends with you? Regardless, homecoming was a thrill and I can't wait for next year's homecoming season.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
