Thanksgiving break is finally here! This means going home for the first time in a few months, seeing all of your family friends, and of course, food! Thanksgiving Break might only be a little over a week long, but here are a few of the stages that you’re bound to experience for these next upcoming days:
1. Waiting for your parents to pick you up
After weeks of homework and studying, nothing is more exciting than seeing your parents car stop outside of your dorm.
2. Being the center of attention in the house since you haven’t been home in months
Everyone wants to know the inside scoop on your life that they’ve missed, which means TONS of repeated questions: What are you majoring in? How are classes? Where are your friends from? Do you like the food? How’s your roommate? Don't expect the questions ending anytime soon!
3. Sleeping in your own room again
You’ve totally forgotten the feeling of freedom that comes with having your own room again, since you’ve been having to share it with someone else for the past three months.
4. Suddenly remembering all of the annoying things your family does and wishing you could be back at school
After a few hours of being home, you instantly remember why you were so excited to leave for college in the first place. The loud noises, constant bickering between you and your siblings, and your parents nagging you on doing things around the house makes you feel as if you’ve never left.
5. Reuniting with your friends from home and doing all the same crazy stuff you used to do
The moment you and your squad have all been waiting for these past three months! You already have so many things you guys have to catch up on, as well as try to hit up all of your favorite spots in town that you used to visit all the time in high school.
6. Your mom taking multiple family pics on Thanksgiving for her social media
She swears it’s just one picture, but we all know that’s mom code for “I want thirty just in case anyone blinks!”
7. Hearing that one family member yelling “The food is ready!”
The words you’ve been waiting to hear all day, since your family made you wait to eat until the actual meal itself.
8. Digging into the food
Enough said.
9. Being stuck between your family members in heated political debates at the dinner table
Even though you don’t want it to happen, you know there’s bound to be a debate between different members of the family in regards to our current political situation. All you just wanna do is stuff your face in turkey in peace.
10. Your parents telling you to start packing soon to go back to school
Because let's face it, you would much rather stay in your bed wrapped under a sea of blankets watching Netflix instead of hiking across campus to your 8 AM.
11. Saying bye to your family and friends
This moment is bittersweet, because it’s sad knowing that your closest people can’t come back with you to school to help you get through finals. But at the same time, you know that you’ll be back home before you know it, for winter break.
12. Reuniting with your friends at school
It might’ve been only a little over a week without seeing your friends, but you still missed your squad like crazy and can't wait to get back to your normal routine.
Have a fun and safe Thanksgiving break!
