Going Home For Thanksgiving Break As Told By Lizzie McGuire

When most people are asked what their favorite holiday is, the usual answer is their birthday or Christmas. Although one of my favorite holidays is in fact Christmas, another one of my favorite holidays is Thanksgiving because it happens to be during my favorite season: fall. Fall is full of cool weather, spooky costumes for Halloween, beautiful colors, and of course, great food that your grandma cooks for you.

Not only is Thanksgiving the best, but also Lizzie McGuire is the best television show. I'm pretty sure she's the role model to every 90's baby, or at least was at some point. She related to many young girls during her show: she had a great family with a mom who gave great advice and a dad who needs credit for trying, great friends like Miranda and Gordo, an average amount of popularity with a bully, Kate, and an average (but sometimes great) wardrobe.

Lizzie McGuire provides perfect examples for what to expect when you go home for Thanksgiving break;

For the first time in a couple months, you are on your way home.

You walk into your big, roommate-less room at home.

You forgot what it was like to have your own bathroom.

Your mom and dad start asking how your first few months at school are going.

Of course, they ask about your midterm grades.

And you have to explain to your parents how hard college is.

Then they begin having a conversation with you about your future

When you tell your parents about what you and your friends do on the weekends.

You learn that your little brother is getting straight A's in school.

You've gotten used to being on your own and now you have to ask your parents for permission to go out with your friends.

And when you see your friends, they fill you in with the latest gossip about people from your high school.

When you tell your family and friends about your new boyfriend.

You have no responsibilities for a few days, and it's amazing.

If your family is anything like mine, this will be you:

When it's finally Thanksgiving Day, you chow down because you haven't had a home-cooked meal in forever.

And your grandma makes you a plate to take home with you.

When you are packing your bags getting ready to head back to school again and this happens

And when you're finally back at school, life hits you like:

But it's okay because you're reunited with your college friends.

Then you immediately start missing your parents, and can't wait for Christmas break.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
