It's that time of year. The tingling feeling you get when holidays are right around the corner is creeping up on you. Finals are making an effort to crush your holiday spirit. But you hold out. Because nothing is like home for the holidays, right? We all know exactly what our time at home looks like for the holidays. Or do we?
1. Family Time
Expectation: Quality bonding time with mom and dad.
Reality: “Oh my god, get me as far away from these people as humanly possible.”
2. Seeing Friends
Expectation: Seeing every single friend you’ve ever had and catching up on each other’s semesters so far.
Reality: You see one or two people and pretend you’ll see the rest of them the next time you come home.
3. Clothes
Expectation: You definitely packed everything you need.
Reality: Have nothing you need. Ever.
4. The Gym
Expectation: Getting your life together and working out every day.
Reality: Never left the couch.
5. Work
Expectation: Bring home your school books to prepare for when you get back to school.
Reality: Scrambling to get everything done the night before classes start back up.
6. Food
Expectation: Home cooked food!!
Reality: $20 left for you on the counter for takeout.
7. Laundry
Expectation: Bringing home all your laundry for your mom to do.
Reality: Being told you’re old enough to do it yourself.
8. Boredom
Expectations: At least I can go back to school and see my friends.
Reality: Swamped with work again.
In all honesty, though, there really is nothing like that feeling of walking through your front door and practically smelling the holiday break in front of you. Even if almost none of it goes as planned.
