Holidays as Told by Your Wardrobe

4

Holidays are a great time of year that everyone looks forward to. No matter the holiday, significant or small, there's always an opportunity for fun, and everyone loves to dress up, or in some cases, down. There is always a “typical” outfit that goes along with some holidays, too.

New Years: There are a lot of New Year's parties that require some fancy clothes, and who doesn't like to dress up? The outfits you see will mostly be a LBD (little black dress) and some adorable wedges or pumps that are most likely to be a vibrant color or sparkly.

Valentine's Day: Now this holiday can go two ways; you either dress up for you and/or your date, or you might just stick to the pajamas that have experienced many romantic comedy marathons and ice cream binges.

St. Patrick's Day: Some schools might be on Spring Break for this holiday, but the lucky ones that are in school get to experience a wonderful Irish holiday that focuses on the color green. Being an Oregon Duck, it makes all the students' lives easier when one of the school colors is green. This is also an awesome time to break out that necklace/shot glass combo that you've been waiting to use.

Fourth of July: 'MERICA. Here's the time to wear your old and vintage American flag bro-tanks, Sperries, and Chubbies, and a great time to wear an American flag printed crop top, high waisted shorts and white Converse. Acceptable attire also includes a red, white, and/or blue swimsuit or country themed outfit.

Labor Day: This is the last chance you have to wear all the white you have; at least until school starts. Make use of your cute little white dress or your nice white button-up that have been hanging in your closet for weeks.

Halloween: According to Mean Girls, this is the holiday where young girls wear lingerie and claim they are some sort of animal. Unfortunately, Lindsey Lohan was incorrect. At least in my experiences. For colleges this is usually referred to as “Halloweekend,” implying that people planning on going out during those three days should prepare three different outfits. The outfits that most people see include, but are certainly not limited to, high waisted shorts, a variety of animal ears, Converse, and black leggings.

Thanksgiving: This is one of the marvelous holidays that does not require dressing up, though no holiday ever requires a proper attire. If you're not going to a fancy dinner, I suggest wearing pants that have the ability to stretch and are comfortable for that post-meal nap.

Christmas Eve: Footie pajamas and blankets are a must when sitting by the fire and waiting for Santa!

Christmas: After opening all wonderful presents and gifts, Christmas dinner attire will most likely be the fabulous new clothes, shoes, and accessories received earlier that day or the previous night. This is a great chance to flaunt your favorite clothing items as well!

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
